Unfortunately, the Trump Wall on the U.S.-Mexico border, which is estimated to cost around $15 billion but undoubtedly will end up being much higher, is not the only socialist project that President Trump is devoted to. There is also his massive $1 trillion infrastructure public works project, which, not surprisingly, is garnering the support of both conservatives and liberals. Yes, that is one trillion dollars!
Let’s put Trump’s $1 trillion socialist project in perspective.
As everyone knows, for many years the federal government has been spending much more money than it has been bringing in with taxation, in large part because of the ongoing, perpetual wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, and the rest of the Middle East.
Look at the figures just since 2008. These figures represent the deficit — that is, the amount by which federal expenditures exceeded tax revenues.

Like other conservatives, he wants to save Social Security. He wants to preserve Medicare and Medicaid. He believes in farm subsidies, education grants, public works projects, foreign aid, and other aspects of the welfare state.
By the same token, like most other conservatives he believes in a giant and powerful military, the CIA, and the NSA. Oh sure, he might be ...
Eight years ago, President Obama’s administration started with hope and change. Eight years later, we end up with a legacy of nothing but waste, death, and destruction.
Libertarians never had any hope, of course, that Barack Obama would dismantle any aspect of the welfare state. As a dyed-in-the-wool liberal, his commitment to socialism, regulation, and economic interventionism is unwavering. When, for example, he addressed the healthcare crisis brought on my Medicare, Medicaid, regulation, and interventionism by foisting Obamacare onto the American people, we libertarians were not surprised.
Where libertarians (and lots of liberals) had hope was that Obama would change the direction that the George W. Bush administration had set for America with respect to foreign policy and civil liberties.
After all, Obama had made a big deal of having opposed Bush’s war on Iraq. On the campaign trail he also emphasized his supposed deep commitment to civil liberties, especially given ...
