Imagine that in 1946 the general-secretary of the United Nations had submitted a resolution to the General Assembly stating that Nazi crimes were so horrendous and despicable that the countries of the world needed to impose a blanket censorship on any public reference to or discussion of Hitler or his henchmen. Only the names of victims were to be mentioned or discussed. And the U.N. member countries, then, unanimously passed this resolution. If such a resolution had been proposed, passed, and fully enforced, what would we know today about the Nazi regime, the German history of that period, or the origins, premises, logic, and implied conclusions of national-socialist ideology and policies, both domestic and foreign? Without open and public discussion and debate through mention of Hitler’s name and unrestricted access to and use of his papers, speeches, and all other related documents, from whom would the world know why and what the Nazi system had done? Imagine Only Government-Approved Nazi History The ...

Sadness for the Russia-Trump Conspiracy Theorists

by
For two years, the Russia-Trump conspiracy theorists have been saying, “Donald Trump entered into a conspiracy with the Russians to defeat our candidate Hillary Clinton. Special Counsel Robert Mueller, ex-director of the FBI, will bust the conspiracy wide open. You just wait! You’ll see.” Every week for the last year, hopes were renewed that this would be the week, the one in which Mueller would finally issue his report, which would prove beyond any doubt whatsoever that Trump had become a “Manchurian Candidate,” one who was doing the bidding of his communist, or at least Russian, masters. Congress would follow up and save us from going Red, or least Russian, by quickly removing Trump through impeachment.  Mueller, has finally — finally! — issued his report. Unfortunately, however, after two years of trying his best to do so, he has failed to find sufficient evidence to support the existence of the purported Russia-Trump conspiracy. ...

Don’t Shoot the Dogs

“In too much of policing today, officer safety has become the highest priority. It trumps the rights and safety of suspects. It trumps the rights and safety of bystanders. It’s so important, in fact, that an officer’s subjective fear of a minor wound from a dog bite is enough to justify using potentially lethal force, in this case at the expense of a 4-year-old girl. And this isn’t the first time. In January, an Iowa cop shot and killed a woman by mistake while trying to kill her dog. Other cops have shot other kids, other bystanders, their partners, their supervisors and even themselves while firing their guns at a dog. That mind-set is then, of course, all the more problematic when it comes to using force against people.”—Journalist Radley Balko The absurd cruelties of the American police ...

The Immorality and Destructiveness of Wealth Equalization

by
One of the hallmarks of the leftist/progressive/liberal/socialist philosophy is wealth redistribution through the force of government. Leftists/progressives/liberals/socialists lament the enormous disparities of wealth and income that exist in American society. They believe, therefore, that a legitimate function of government is to take money from the rich and either keep it for governmental expenditures or give it to the poor ...
