Speaker Spotlight: Jonathan Turley
by Jacob G. Hornberger, February 15, 2008

This week’s speaker spotlight for our upcoming June 6-8, 2008, conference “Restoring the Republic 2008: Foreign Policy & Civil Liberties” is on Jonathan Turley. While I have never met Turley, given my law background he is definitely one of my personal heroes in life. Every morning, I make it a point to look for new articles by Jonathan Turley becausethey are inevitably filled with clarity, logic, and principle on the burning legal issues of our time.

Turley is a professor of law at George Washington University but he is much more than that. He is also a practicing attorney who has been involved in some of the most important judicial controversies of our era. Through it all, he has been a relentless defender of civil liberties, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights, which is why we are so honored to have him as one of the speakers at our upcoming conference.

Turley is the second most-cited law professor in the country. His articles appear regularly in such publications as the New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today, Los Angeles Times, and Wall Street Journal. He has also served as a legal commentator for NBC News and CBS News and has appeared on such shows as Meet the Press, ABC This Week, Face the Nation, and Fox Sunday.

Turley’s talk will surely be a highlight of the conference. To do some preparatory study for the conference, posted below are several of his articles to which we have linked in our FFF Email Update.

I’ve said it before but it bears repeating: this is going to be one of the best conferences in the history of the libertarian movement, even better than last year’s! You do not want to miss it! The conference will be held on June 6-8 (Friday morning through Sunday night) at the Hyatt Regency Reston in Reston, Virginia, one of the nicest areas of northern Virginia. (It’s best to fly into Dulles Airport, though Reagan and National airports will also work.) The conference price is $495, which includes all Hyatt Regency meals — breakfast, lunch, and dinner — during the 3 days of the conference plus admission to all 19 speeches.

To register for the conference, go to our conference website or call us at 703-934-6101. Remember to make your hotel reservations at the Hyatt Regency Reston after you register for the conference; be sure to mention the FFF conference to secure the special discounted rate of $149 per night.

Sincerely,

Jacob Hornberger
