A Message to Our Readers

Dear Friends of FFF,
As you may know, Freedom Daily contributor Doug Bandow was the subject of a Business Week story last week, which detailed payments he had received from Washington, D.C., lobbyist Jack Abramoff in return for writing a number of op-eds favorable to Abramoff’s clients. The revelations in the story resulted in Doug’s resignation from the Cato Institute and his suspension from Copley News Service, which carried his syndicated column.
Doug and I have been close friends for many years. However, as I wrote him this morning, I cannot let our friendship override my responsibilities as president of The Future of Freedom Foundation. Therefore, we are pulling a book review by Doug that was scheduled for our upcoming January issue of Freedom Daily and we are removing his name from our list of active Freedom Daily contributors. As I told Doug in my email, this is one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make during the 15 years I’ve been running this organization.
